Chemical peels help improve your skin's coloration and texture. At SKY, we offer both the TCA peel and the Jessner peel. All treatments are performed by Dr. Sirius K. Yoo, our double board-certified facial plastic surgeon.

TCA Peel

The TCA Peel is a non-toxic chemical (trichloracetic acid) that is most commonly used for reducing brown and age spots, improving the texture of sun damaged skin and melisma, treating acne and reducing fine lines. The face, neck and chest are all areas that can be treated with a TCA peel.

After treatment, peeling can generally last two to five days. Results will be seen after peeling occurs. Skin will continue to improve for 30 to 60 days after treatment as long as there is minimal sun exposure. Skin will tend to be light yellow one to two hours after the procedure, then feel tight and turn slightly red two to three days afterwards. Sensitivity to sunlight will occur four to eight weeks after treatment, so it is advised to avoid prolonged sun exposure.

Jessner Peel

A Jessner peel is a popular medium-depth chemical peel that helps smooth out fine lines and wrinkles, reduce appearance of acne scarring and large pores, treat acne and restore skin to a more healthy, youthful glow. The three main ingredients combined to create the Jessner peel include lactic acid (assists in the exfoliation of the skin), salicylic acid (aids in penetration), and resorcinol (assists in treatment of acne).

This peel encourages the natural peeling process to occur several days after treatment by breaking up dead skin cells. Before peeling occurs, the skin appears dry and tight with slight redness. Peeling typically lasts a week after treatment. Old and damaged skin will peel away into glowing skin. This peel can be repeated every four weeks until the desired look is achieved.

Remember avoid sun exposure after treatment, and sun sensitivity may occur up to 4 weeks after treatment.
