Award Ceremony for 2014 Healthcare Champions

Last week, we attended San Diego Business Journal's 2014 Healthcare Champions award ceremony where Dr. Yoo was named a finalist!  The distinction honors doctors whose "performance, demeanor and overall attributes are considered exemplary among both peers and patients."

Held at Balboa Park's rather fitting "Hall of Champions," the evening began with mingling and light food. We enjoyed catching up with many of our healthcare colleagues (and the portabella sliders were particularly delicious).

San Diego Business Journal's President Armon Mills and Executive Editor Reo Car emceed the event.

A Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Kathleen Sellick, past President & CEO of Rady Children's Hospital and a Community Service Award was given to Robin Rady, who invented a binder organization system to help those battling cancer keep track of medical records.

Then, Dr. Yoo and the finalists were announced and invited up to the stage to be given their certificate. It was fun to see Dr. Yoo's photo on the "big screen."

After the event, the San Diego Business Journal included Dr. Yoo's profile in its printed publication:

"Dr. Sirius K. Yoo runs a busy practice in North County San Diego and provides emergency room coverage for most of San Diego's hospitals (Scripps Encinitas, Scripps La Jolla, Sharp Grossmont, and Alvarado Hospital). He sees patients at his clinic on a daily basis and also serves under-insured patients in the emergency room. Dr. Yoo is one of only a select number of surgeons in the nation to complete a prestigious fellowship in facial plastic surgery at Stanford University. He is an active member of the San Diego County Medical Society. Dr. Yoo also supports numerous community efforts raising money and running in the San Diego Zoo Safari Park's annual half marathon. In 2013, Dr. Yoo's fundraising success for the Safari Park won his team a special place of honor - a private tent at the finish line. He also supports Helen Woodward Animal Center and Rady Children's Hospital."

We are incredibly proud that Dr. Yoo was given this honor by his peers and patients!
