Home 4 the Holidays

Last night I stopped by the new Snooze Eatery in Del Mar Highlands Town Center to show my support for Helen Woodward Animal Center's (HWAC) annual Home 4 the Holidays adoption campaign.

When I arrived, HWAC's CEO Mike Arms was speaking to the crowd about the community's shared love of animals.

Home 4 the Holidays is the most successful pet adoption campaign on record, helping save the lives of more than 8 million orphaned animals since its inception in 1999. Every year, from October through December, thousands of adoption agencies around the world participate by promoting pet adoptions and holding adoption drives. The goal this year is to find loving homes for 1 million animals.

I remember participating in Home 4 the Holidays when I worked at the Seattle Humane Society. Now, I live in San Diego, where it all began!

The highlight of the event? Getting to snuggle with a 9-week old puppy named Kris -- short for Kris Kringle, naturally!
