This weekend on May 1, we were proud sponsors of the 6th annual Bags & Baubles fundraiser for the FACE Foundation, a San Diego nonprofit dedicated to funding life-saving veterinary care to pets in need.

FACE’s biggest fundraiser of the year, Bags & Baubles raised money for pets like Pogi, an adorable Dachshund who struggled with a crippling spine disease that eventually left him without the use of his back legs. Pogi’s parents had already been strained and worried by the mounting veterinary bills and were utterly devastated when told that Pogi’s quality of life depended on a surgery that was, at that point, financially unfeasible. Pet parents faced with the heartbreaking decision between life-saving medical treatment and the alternative turn to the FACE Foundation for guidance and support.

As the Vice President of SKY and a lifelong animal lover, I am deeply honored to be even a small part of helping fund the FACE Foundation’s incredible work that touches the hearts – and changes the futures - of so many families in San Diego. Since 2006, the FACE Foundation has funded more than $1.8 million of critical medical care and saved the lives of 1,170 pets.

I first learned of the FACE Foundation when hiking with a friend, whose dog (also on the hike with us) had undergone a life-saving hip surgery funded by FACE. To hear her story is to be reminded of every pet parent’s nightmare – being utterly helpless to your dog or cat’s pain and suffering. While I hope no pet parent has to experience this, I am grateful to nonprofits like the FACE Foundation, who are there for our pets when no one else is.

We hope this year’s Bags & Baubles was as successful as past years, which draw upwards of 400 attendees and raise well over $130,000 for animals in need. If you’d like to help us give back to this worthy cause, join us in making a donation.
