Say Goodbye to Your Double Chin!
Introducing the latest game-changing injectable, Kybella! Kybella is the first FDA-approved injectable that helps dissolve fat. Yes, you read that correctly; there is now a non-surgical option to get rid of that stubborn fat underneath your chin. This liquid injectable has an active ingredient called deoxycholic acid, a fat-absorbing substance that is naturally found in our bodies. Once injected, fat cells underneath the chin are destroyed, and the fat cells can no longer store or accumulate fat, which means the results are PERMANENT!
For optimal results, plan on getting a series of two to four treatments, spaced at least four weeks apart. Each treatment takes about 45 minutes from start to finish. When you go in for a treatment, first an anesthetic gel will be applied to the area under your chin. After 20 minutes (the time it takes for the gel to activate), Dr. Yoo will use temporary ink to mark where he wants to place each injection. Anywhere from 20 to 30 injections placed in a grid pattern are necessary to ensure the Kybella is spread evenly into the targeted fatty tissue.
One thing to keep in mind is that Kybella works on extra fat - not skin - so if it’s extra skin that you want to get rid of, there really is no better alternative than surgery. Also, if you’ve had previous surgery or treatment to the area under the chin, you may not be a good candidate for Kybella. Want to know for sure whether or not you’re a good candidate? Schedule a consultation with Dr. Yoo.
And lastly, you may be wondering what’s stopping the world from injecting Kybella in other areas of the body. We asked Dr. Yoo and here is what he said: “Right now, Kybella is only FDA-approved for the chin area. Kybella is an exciting new advancement that certainly has implications for possible broader use in the future. More studies are needed first before it would be safe to use elsewhere.” Good to know, Dr. Yoo! We'll try to wait patiently ...
