The SKY Team Volunteers for 27th Annual Kids' NewsDay

Last Tuesday, we took over one of the busiest intersections in 4S Ranch to volunteer for Kids’ NewsDay benefitting the nonprofit Rady Children’s Hospital, the only designated pediatric trauma center in the San Diego region. Each year, volunteers across San Diego fill the streets wearing yellow aprons to sell special edition Union Tribune newspapers featuring heartfelt stories from Rady Children’s Hospital. All proceeds collected from Kids’ NewsDay go towards the hospital’s patients and their families.

This year marked our third year participating in Kids’ NewsDay, and we had a blast! So many of the people who donated didn’t even take the paper, they just wanted to donate to Rady’s and their lifesaving work. We even had several students from Del Norte High School make donations!

Last year, we exceeded our goal of $300 dollars. This year, we decided to set our goal even higher! We set a goal of $500 dollars. After we got back to the office, it was time for Michael to count all the donations, and find out if we reached our goal.

We are happy to announce we exceeded our fundraising by raising a total of $505.58! Dr. Yoo and Ashaya made a great team bringing in nearly half the donations with $237 dollars!

As strong supporters of Rady Children’s Hospital, we believe it is extremely important to give back to our local community. Our Vice President, Amber, currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Rady Children’s Hospital Auxiliary as the Director of Technology and we couldn’t be more proud of her leadership for such an outstanding cause! Amber is also an active member of the Del Mar Auxiliary unit for Rady Children's Hospital. The Del Mar unit coordinates a number of public fundraisers for the children, and Amber will be co-chairing one of its biggest events next year, the 56th annual “Heard it Through the Grapevine” wine tasting and charity auction on April 16, 2016. Save the date!

We want to again thank everyone who donated for Kids’ NewsDay! Our goal could not have been reached without you! If you’d still like to donate, please click here.
