On Thursday, December 13, 2018, the San Diego Business Journal (SDBJ) held the annual Business Women of the Year Awards, honoring San Diego's top 100 most impactful women leaders. Celebrating its 25th year, SDBJ’s women’s award program is the longest running in San Diego. At SKY, we are incredibly proud of our Vice President and co-founder, Amber N. Yoo, M.B.A. for being selected as a finalist for the FIFTH year in a row!

On June 2, 2018, Helen Woodward Animal Center held it's biggest fundraiser of the year, the Spring Fling and SKY is proud to be a sponsor again - for the 5th year!  Since 2014 SKY has been a proud sponsor of this important annual fundraiser that raises vital funding to rescue orphaned animals, provide them with life-saving medical care and give them as long as it takes to find them a home of their own. . This weekend I got together with Kelly Hinchman, our interior designer, to review the art plan for the space and do some crafts. We've been bouncing ideas for art off of each other for several weeks, but now we need to sit down and finalize our plan. We placed a piece of wax paper over the floor plan and marked out where art is needed. Next, we looked at all of our options and set aside our favorites. Then, we used the budget and measurements to determine which pieces will go where.

Join our “herd” as we run and fundraise for the rhinos at the Safari Park Half Marathon on Sunday, May 5, 2013! 2013 will be The SKY Team’s second year participating in the Safari Park Half Marathon. Helping animals is my greatest passion, and I am fortunate to have the support of Dr. Yoo, Denise, and Ariana.  Dr. Yoo runs and we volunteer the day of the event.

On June 6, Dr. Yoo and Michael attended Helen Woodward Animal Center's Spring Fling. Helen Woodward Animal Center is a charity that rescues orphaned animals and provides animal-centric educational and therapeutic programs for people. The Spring Fling is the Rancho Santa Fe charity's biggest fundraiser of the year -- and we wouldn't have missed it for the world! This year, we were proud to be event sponsors!

We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Yoo was named Best Cosmetic Surgeon by Ranch & Coast Magazine! Ranch & Coast was first established in 1983 as an exclusive Rancho Santa Fe community publication. Today, the self-dubbed "Ultimate Lifestyle" magazine is one of San Diego's favorite luxury publications.

While being a cosmetic surgeon certainly puts me in the “beauty” industry, I never considered myself an expert on eyelashes until several of my patients began asking me how they could get fuller, longer eyelashes. For the past couple of years, as a courtesy to my patients, I’ve carried  Latisse, a prescription medication that is applied to the upper eyelids for longer, fuller, darker lashes.

The cabinetry was built offsite according to the the "shop drawings" that are based off of the original construction documents and measurements taken at the site. Right now, individual units (e.g. a stack of drawers) are sitting in various rooms of the new space, waiting to be unpacked and installed.

Yoo, MBA If you've never cuddled an 8-week old puppy while wearing a ball gown, I highly recommend it.  Last week, I had the good fortune of participating in a Ranch & Coast magazine photo shoot for Helen Woodward Animal Center’s annual Spring Fling . Those of us on the event’s planning committee got decked out in our finest and posed around three handsome Bimmers (BMW is an event sponsor) holding an assortment of adorable, fluffy puppies.

by Amber N. Yoo, M.B.A. Construction has started on our new space in 4S Ranch! On Friday, the general contractor "snapped the lines," which means they drew the layout on the floor of the space. We walked the space to make sure that everything looked right. The photo below shows where the walls will be for the exam rooms and the hallway handwashing station.

by Ariana Fierro There's nothing like fudge at 10 in the morning! Today, the mom of one of our patients brought us a huge slab of delicious fudge as a thank you for taking care of her son. Dr. Yoo surgically removed a benign tumor from his neck and he is doing well. We love making our patients happy!  

I decided to take the plunge. I've been thinking about the recommendations that Dr. Yoo made at my consultation. I decided to get Botox. It took me a while to come to the conclusion, but I am very happy that I did. In this blog post, I share my experience as a first-time Botox patient.

We are very proud to announce that the Institute for Medical Quality (IMQ) has awarded our surgery center with 3-year accreditation, the longest term that a surgical facility can get. IMQ, the "quality arm" of the California Medical Association, recently completed a rigorous on-site inspection and concluded that our policies, procedures and practices provide the highest standard of care for our surgery patients.

An article authored by Dr. Yoo appeared in the July 2012 issue of Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery, the premier journal of the facial plastic surgery community. The article discusses a novel technique to maintain the width of the middle portion of the nose in patients undergoing dorsal hump reduction.

On Nov. 5, SKY’s Vice President, Amber, will be honored as a finalist for the San Diego Business Journal’s Women Who Mean Business award! Each winner’s biography will be included in the supplement as well as information on all of the finalists. The SKY Team is celebrating Amber’s accomplishment and acknowledge how well deserved this is. Amber attended the University of Florida and received her Bachelor's in Business Administration with a specialization in Physics. She continued on at the University of Florida to receive her Master’s in Business Administration graduating with highest honors.

Last week, we attended San Diego Business Journal's 2014 Healthcare Champions award ceremony where Dr. Yoo was named a finalist!  The distinction honors doctors whose "performance, demeanor and overall attributes are considered exemplary among both peers and patients."

We stopped by to review suggested art and accessories for the new office in 4S Ranch. The first piece was hard to miss -- a substantial original work of art called "Meteor Shower" in a gorgeous blue with pops of metallic shimmer.

Earlier this month, we offered Ariana and Denise three choices for an outing: dinner at Escondido’s Vintana, a dinner cruise during San Diego Bay’s Parade of Lights, or a murder mystery dinner show by The Dinner Detective. To our delight, they chose the murder mystery dinner show.  

Today, Amber was honored as a finalist at San Diego Business Journal's Women Who Mean Business awards ceremony. We are delighted that Amber has been selected as a finalist for the past three years!

Last night I stopped by the new Snooze Eatery in Del Mar Highlands Town Center to show my support for Helen Woodward Animal Center's (HWAC) annual Home 4 the Holidays adoption campaign.

We are so thankful for the support we received from all of our wonderful patients at last Thursday’s celebration for Dr. Yoo being named Best Cosmetic Surgeon by Ranch & Coast Magazine. The turnout was amazing and we had a blast!

by Ariana Fierro On the 11th anniversary of 9/11, we reflect on those we lost and how far we've come. On behalf of The SKY Team, thank you to the firefighters, police officers, and citizens who worked hard to save the lives of our fellow Americans on that painful day in 2001.  Our heart goes out to the families who lost someone in this tragedy to our nation. And we are forever thankful to the brave men and women in uniform who risked and lost their lives to fight for our freedom.
